Bluefields ready for spring cleanup campaigns

BLUEFIELD — Schedule and guidelines for Bluefield’s Project Clean Sweep:

•The project is open to city residences or businesses that have city garbage service.

•Items for pickup must be placed in your regular trash pickup location.

•Do not place any items out for pickup prior to the Sunday of the designated week for your neighborhood.

•Loose items and materials need to be secured.

•Any item for pickup must be placed outside no later than 8 a.m. on the Thursday of the week designated for your neighborhood.

•Passenger car tires (16 inch or less) will be limited to a maximum of eight per household.

•Do not mix brush, tree trimming or other debris. These items will be picked up by different crews.

• Hazardous materials such as car batteries, solvents, oil or fuel, etc. will not be picked up.

• Construction or demolition debris will not be picked up.

Zone 1: Northside and section of the west end of Chestnut Street to Carolina Avenue, west along Bluefield Avenue to the Virginia line. May 12 through May 16.

Zone 2: Along Princeton Avenue and eastside of Bland Street to northside of Cumberland Road, east to along Grassy Branch Road. April 21 through April 25.

Zone 3: Southside of Cumberland Road along U.S. Route 460 and East Cumberland Heights. April 28 through May 2.

Zone 4: South Mercer area, downtown area, west side of Bland Street to West Cumberland Road, Washington Street Exit to U.S. Route 460 and west to Virginia line. May 5 through May 9.
