Magistrate finds probable cause in Mercer County murder case.

BLUEFIELD — The case against a Mercer County man charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a Princeton woman has been bound over to the Mercer County grand jury.

 Steven McDonald, 32, of Bluefield, along with Latasha Marie Kanode, 23, of Princeton, are both charged with the murder of Sherry Matthews, 44, of Princeton. Matthews was shot and killed at her apartment in the Lilly Grove area.

McDonald appeared today before Mercer County Magistrate Sandra Dorsey, who found probable cause to bound the case against Dorsey to the next session of the Mercer County grand jury.

The case against Kanode also has been bound over to the next session of the grand jury.
