The West Virginia State Police hope that the public can provide some help in tracking down the person or persons involved in the theft of an all-terrain vehicle that was taken on Jan. 18, from the McDowell County garage on U.S. Route 52.
“The four-wheeler — a 2006 Honda TRX350FM painted OD (olive drab) green— was on loan from the military to the county sheriff’s office,” Sgt. C.F. Kane said. Kane is commander of the Welch Detachment, West Virginia State Police. “The military owns the four-wheeler. It was just on loan to the county.”
Kane said that the county used the vehicle to gain access to remote locations in the county for search and rescue missions.
“We hope that the public may have seen the vehicle operating somewhere in the county, and we hope to develop information on the case,” Kane said. “Any information that helps us with the case will remain confidential. People can remain anonymous and call us at (304) 436-2101.”
