Bluefield Daily Telegraph

BRUSHFORK — A Mercer County man was stabbed with a butcher knife Thursday afternoon following a verbal argument with his roommate in the travel trailer at the Woody’s (formerly called Plainview) Trailer Park where the two men lived, according to Lt. J.E. Parks of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department. The trailer park is on Stoney Ridge Road near the intersection with the Airport Road.

Kevin Brinkley, 28, was transported by the Bluefield Rescue Squad to Bluefield Regional Medical Center suffering a non-life threatening leg wound, Parks said. Another man, McKinley Jones, 37, was being questioned at the scene.

“They were in a heated discussion that started this afternoon that suddenly turned physical,” Parks said.

Parks and Deputy J.D. Ellison, responded to the incident. Parks said that Brinkley and Jones were both residents of a small, 20 to 25-foot long camper.

“The cut may require stitches,” Parks said. He said he did not recover the knife at the scene.

Parks did not know if Jones would be charged. The department received the call at about 12:30 p.m.
