Two southern W.Va. men die in Tennessee crash

BRISTOL, Tenn. — A Princeton resident and a Beckley resident died Saturday night in a crash on Interstate 81 in Tennessee.

Carl Russell Osburn, 54, of Princeton and Dennis Darrell Dawson, 81, of Beckley died in a two-vehicle crash 6:56 p.m., Feb. 22, on Interstate 81 near Bristol, Tenn., according to a report provided by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Osburn’s tractor-trailer and Dawson’s 2012 Toyota Camery were traveling north on I-81 when the tractor-trailer struck the car in the rear, causing both vehicles to cross two lanes of traffic and strike a concrete bridge pillar, according to the report.

Osburn was ejected from the tractor-trailer, and then hit by another vehicle in the southbound lane, according to the report. He was using a seat belt.

The Camery’s passenger, Connie Sue Dawson, 75, of Beckley was injured. Her condition was not available.

Trooper J. Robinson of the Tennessee Highway Patrol was the investigating officer.
