ROANOKE, W.Va. —
Barbara Snelling of Blake Auction Co. in Bluefield was busy working Saturday night at the West Virginia Auctioneer Association annual convention at the Stonewall Jackson Resort when she heard Bob Stewart Jr., president of the WVAA, making an announcement about someone’s induction into the West Virginia Auctioneer Association’s Hall of Fame.
“I could hear Bob talking, but I didn’t know what it was about,” she said. Eventually, she learned that Stewart had been talking about her. “I thought, what!” she said. “I actually didn’t know what it was all about.”
Snelling was inducted into the WVAA Hall of Fame. “It was really neat. I was deeply humbled and honored. The association hasn’t inducted anyone into the Hall of Fame since 2009. I was truly honored.”
Snelling will celebrate her 14th year in business as Blake Auction Co. in August.
