TAZEWELL, Va. —
A Tazewell County man facing two counts of capital murder in connection with a double slaying at a Claypool Hill pizza parlor waived his right Friday to a preliminary hearing in Tazewell County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Christopher Dean Looney, the son of the late Valerie and Harvey Looney, is charged with two counts of capital murder in connection with their deaths.
The bodies of Valerie Looney, 48, and her husband of almost 29 years, Harvey Looney, 52, were discovered on the morning of March 30, 2009, by an employee who was coming to work at the Pizza Plus restaurant in Claypool Hill, Va. The Looneys managed the pizza restaurant. Valerie’s body was found in the office and Harvey’s body was found near a door outside the store.
Looney waived his hearing Friday before Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Judge Michael Bush.
Commonwealth Attorney Dennis Lee said the case will be presented to the November session of the Tazewell County grand jury. Lee said the Commonwealth will seek an indictment on two-counts of capital murder.
