Tazewell County man indicted on a felony discharge a firearm into a dwelling

Bluefield Daily Telegraph

TAZEWELL, Va. — A Tazewell County man has been indicted on a felony discharging a firearm into a dwelling charge, Sheriff Brian Hieatt said Wednesday.

Shane Tibbs, age unavailable, of Springville, reported last fall that someone had broken into his house and then shot him before running out of the house. Tibbs, who suffered a minor gunshot wound, has now been indicted on a charge of discharging a firearm into a dwelling, which is a class 6 felony, Hieatt said.

“Our investigation has determined that there was no breaking and entering that occurred, but that it was falsely called in by Mr. Tibbs.” Hieatt said. “We have spent a great deal of time investigating this incident and looking at all the evidence to determine what actually happened on Melrose Street that day.”
