Officers respond to Athens Road wreck

PRINCETON — State and county law enforcement officers combined their efforts Thursday evening to pursue suspects who fled the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Old Athens Road at Bailey Hollow Road near Melrose Square, according to a spokesperson for the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department.

Trooper B.R. Wood of the Princeton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police and Deputy J.E. Coulter of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and initiated pursuits of one of two individuals who fled from the crash scene. The wreck occurred at about 9:25 p.m.

Police were still on the scene investigating the case after 10 p.m.
