TAZEWELL, Va. —
A new school superintendent has been chosen for Tazewell County.
Dr. Michaelene Meyer was appointed as superintendent Wednesday morning by the Tazewell County School Board. Meyer is currently serving as the deputy superintendent for curriculum and instruction at Manassas City Public Schools.
“I am thrilled to be named the new superintendent of Tazewell County Schools and look forward to working with the school board in continuing the work of improving the educational program for the students of our schools,” Meyer said. “Tazewell County has much to be proud of, including a very strong foundational education program and comprehensive improvement plan that will be respected and utilized to continue to bring the entire community together to prepare our students for successful entry into their futures.”
Meyer is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelors of Science in Education, a Masters of Education in Administration, and a Ph.D. in Educational Studies.
