Thousands cast ballots before noon in southern W.Va., Southwest Va.

BLUEFIELD — Voters were out bright and early across the two Virginias to cast their ballots.

Dozens of residents were out early at the Glenwood School precinct, leaving the parking lot packed. A waiting line had formed at the polling place inside Bluefield High School before 10 a.m. Poll workers across Mercer County have said turnout has been tremendous area-wide.

In Virginia, poll workers reported more than 1,000 voters had cast their ballots at the town hall in Bluefield, Va., before 11 a.m., and voters were waiting in a line stretching out into the parking lot of the town hall by noon. Voters also lined up in Springville, Va., to cast their ballots.

Polls in Virginia will remain open until 7 p.m. tonight while polls in West Virginia will remain open until 7:30 p.m.
