‘Mini crime spree’

Green Valley man arrested

PRINCETON — — A Green Valley man has been arrested on charges related to a “mini crime spree” that started during the weekend and continued until early this week.

Michael D. Beck, 30, was charged with two counts of conspiracy against the state, grand larceny, receiving stolen property and first-degree robbery stemming from a string of crimes including the armed robbery of the Executive Lounge in Green Valley.

Cpl. A.P. Christian of the Princeton Detachment, West Virginia State Police said during a press conference on Wednesday that Trooper W.H. File, also of the Princeton Detachment, was able to locate the suspect after finding bullet holes in his vehicle. The part-owner of the lounge fired some rounds “in defense” after the robbery early Sunday morning, Christian said.

Christian predicted that there will be additional charges in the case. He said that Beck confessed to three attempted breaking and entering to Mercer County businesses, an attempted theft of copper from a Green Valley business as well as an incident at the Princeton Walmart.

According to Christian, Beck was working with co-conspirators during the crime spree. He predicted that when the co-conspirators are apprehended, “there will be plenty of additional charges.”

Trooper File responded to the Executive Lounge armed robbery at the Executive Lounge at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. Christian said that there were some shots fired by one of the co-owners of the business, who fired at the fleeing vehicle, “in defense,” Christian said.

He said the mini crime spree started Friday afternoon and “went on through late Friday afternoon,” he said. “They attempted to, and did hit a few places.” Christian said the suspect “was on probation,” and added that the Mercer County probation office may revoke his probation as a result of the crime spree.
