Red flag warning issued for several counties, snow returns to regional forecast tonight

Bluefield Daily Telegraph

BLUEFIELD — A red flag warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for McDowell, Wyoming and Buchanan counties. And snow is expected later tonight, according to forecasters.

The red flag warning states that a combination of strong winds and low relative humidity will create an enhanced threat for the spread of wildfires late this morning through mid-afternoon. The red flag warning continues through 8 p.m. this evening.

Adding to the complex first day of spring forecast is a chance of snow across the region this evening. Rain and snow is expected tonight becoming all snow after 11 p.m. Temperatures will fall to around 22 degrees.

Snow showers are expected again on Thursday with a daytime high of only 25 degrees for the Bluefield area. A chance of rain and snow is then expected again from Saturday night through Tuesday of next week.
