Depot District continues to improve

BLUEFIELD — With temperatures warming up across the region projects will be in full swing in an effort to help clean up Bluefield.

The Depot District is already looking better, according to Bluefield business person and Bluefield Preservation Society member Skip Crane.

“The sidewalks are almost finished, in fact I say the streets are looking better than the buildings,” Crane said.

Other  projects are also moving right along also, Crane said.

“The library has gotten a fresh coat of paint on the outside and renovations are moving right along on the Granada Theatre,” Crane said. “All the street lights are up and working and our next big push is on Raleigh Street.”

AEP has also spent a large amount of money on installing underground power, Crane said. Once the project is complete both Raleigh and Commerce streets will be paved.

“Everyone has really worked hard all week and the weather has really been a big help,” Crane said.
