A Mercer County man pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of driving under the influence with death.
Eric Perdue, 32, of Brushfork, appeared for a plea hearing before Circuit Court Judge Omar Aboulhosn. During the hearing, Perdue entered a guilty plea to the felony count of DUI with death, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kelli Harshbarger said after the hearing. Several misdemeanor charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Perdue faces a sentence of two to 10 years in prison, Harshbarger said. A date for sentencing was not available Monday. Perdue is currently free on bond.
The case began in August 2012 after a two-vehicle crash on Falls Mills Road, also known as Route 123, near Brushfork. Sherri Watkins, 41, of Brushfork was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt west on Route 123 when a Chevy Silverado pickup truck traveling east turned on its side and ran head-on into the Cobalt. Watkins died at the scene, Deputy M.S. Horne of the Mercer Sheriff’s Depart-ment said after the crash.
Perdue was arrested by the sheriff’s department in 2003 on a DUI charge, Horne said.
