Police make meth arrest

BLUEFIELD — Officers with the Bluefield Police Department arrested a Mercer County man early Tuesday morning on a charge of possession of crystal methamphetamine.

Howard Pruett Jr., 47, of Bluefield was in custody at the Bluefield jail early on Christmas Eve after his arrest with 7 grams of crystal meth, according to Patrolman M.L. Ramsey of the Bluefield Police Department.

“We received a call at about midnight concerning a male subject acting strangely in the parking lot of ‘Sarah J’s’ on Cumberland Road,” Ramsey said. “Myself and Patrolman A.L. Crook responded, questioned Mr. Pruett, made the arrest and discovered the crystal meth.”

Pruett was still in custody at Bluefield city jail Tuesday morning.
