McDowell County drug roundup results in multiple arrests

WELCH — A warrant roundup this morning for drug violations has resulted in eight arrests.

Today at approximately 9 a.m. the McDowell County Sheriff's Office conducted a warrant round-p for drug violations. Ages of the persons arrested were not available, but all were adults, said Sheriff Martin B. West. All of the arrests were in the Big Creek District of McDowell County.

Those arrested and charged include:

• Jerry Blackwell, three counts of delivery of a schedule 3 controlled substance. He was arraigned by Magistrate Richard VanDyke and bond was set at $75,000.

• Christina Hagerman, two counts of delivery of a schedule 3 controlled substance. She was arraigned by Magistrate Danny Mitchell and bond was set at $30,000.

• Fredrick Keen, one count of delivery of a schedule 2 controlled substance. He was arraigned by Magistrate Richard VanDyke and bond was set at $25,000.

• Preston Keen, one count of delivery of a schedule 2 controlled substance. He was arraigned by Magistrate Richard VanDyke and bond was set at $25,000.

• David Grose, three counts of delivery of a schedule 2 controlled substance and one count of conspiracy. He was arraigned by Magistrate Danny Mitchell and bond was set at $80,000.

• Benny Wilson Jr., one count of delivery of a schedule 2 controlled substance and one count of conspiracy. He was arraigned by Magisrate Danny Mitchell and bond was set at $30,000.

One person was arrested during the round up, Stuart Lee Baker, who is facing one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and has not been arraigned by a magistrate at this time, West said.

 More arrests are forthcoming, West added.
