Manufactured home destroyed in blaze

BRUSHFORK — A fire of unknown origin Sunday morning destroyed a manufactured home at Woody’s Trailer Park on Stoney Ridge Road, but the couple who recently rented the residence were not home at the time the fire broke out.

Mercer County 911 received a call concerning the fire at 11:38 a.m., and paged out the Bluewell Volunteer Fire Department and the Green Valley-Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department. The structure was totally involved when firefighters arrived on the scene, according to people who were on the scene of the fire.

“It was an occupied mobile home, but the people who live there were not there when the fire broke out,” Chief David Thompson of the Green Valley-Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department said. “Kenneth Woody is the owner of the mobile home and it was rented out. A man and a woman showed up after the fire was out. I don’t know if they had any children.”

Neighbors in the trailer park said the couple had just recently moved into the residence. One person said that it appeared they had just started moving in and only had a couch and a mattress in the trailer.

“The Bluewell Fire Department has the lead on this fire,” Thompson said. “The only thing I can say is that it is under investigation.”

Bluewell Volunteer Fire Department personnel were not immediately available Sunday afternoon for comment.
