Pizza Plus double homicide suspect facing capital murder

TAZEWELL, Va. — A Virginia man facing charges including the 2009 murder of his parents has been indicted by the November session of the Tazewell County Grand Jury.

Christopher Dean Looney, 32, of Belfast, Va., was indicted on charges including capital murder — multiple victims and two counts of capital murder — robbery, according to the indictment list released Friday by the Tazewell County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office.

Looney was arrested Feb. 14 and charged with the murder of his parents, 52-year-old Harvey Looney and 48-year-old Valerie Looney. The couple was found at their business, Pizza Plus in Claypool Hill, Va., the morning of March 30, 2009 when an employee arrived for work. Harvey Looney’s body was found outside the restaurant, and Valerie Looney was in the restaurant’s office.

The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office conducted an extensive investigation for almost four years. Looney waived his preliminary hearing in October. He is currently being held at the Southwest Regional Jail in Tazewell, Va.

In a separate case, the grand jury indicted William Weston Walker, 36, of Spring Dale. He was charged with statutory burglary of a building while armed with intent to rape/rob/murder; robbery of a business with use of a gun or simulated gun; and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Walker allegedly approached clerks Jan. 19 at the Hometown Shell Station on College Avenue in Bluefield, Va., displayed a weapon and demanded money, investigators said after his arrest. The station’s employees gave Walker an undisclosed amount of money and activated a panic alarm as he returned to his vehicle. An officer with the Bluefield, Va., Police Department arrested Walker without incident a short time later and recovered two BB guns.
