Arts center boiler up and running in time for ‘Back to Vegas’

BLUEFIELD — The new boiler at the Bluefield Area Arts Center is online, and the Summit Theatre is planning to be toasty warm on Valentines’ Day for the Summit Players’ performance of “Back to Vegas.”

“This year’s talent show features all of the people from last year’s sell-out performance plus additional acts,” Ellen Light wrote in an email message. “It runs two weekends, Feb. 14 through 16, and Feb. 21 through 23, with dinner on Friday and Saturday.”

Tickets for the dinner theater performances are $30 for adults and $15 for children under 12 years old. Reservations are required. Matinee tickets as $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12 years old, and reservations are not required for the matinee performances.

“Dan Turner and the Summit House Band will provide musical accompaniment replete with Vegas showgirls, Ken Pennington, dancers, singers, comedy acts and an overall great evening,” Light wrote.

Light said that reservations have been off this year. “We think this may be due to the publicity about the building having no heat,” Light wrote. “The new boiler was fired up (on Friday) and all is well with the building again,” Light said.
