A McDowell County man is currently being held on several charges, including attempted murder, after Welch City Police responded to a domestic call involving firearms, according to Chief Richard VanDyke.
Calvin Ray Peak, 39, of Welch was arrested on nineteen charges total, including three accounts of attempted murder, four counts of wanton endangerment, one count of resisting arrest, two counts of child abuse causing bodily injury, three counts of domestic assault, three counts of domestic battery, one count of shooting within 500 feet of a dwelling, one count of assault on a police officer, and one count of second offense brandishing a weapon, VanDyke said.
Peak was arraigned by McDowell County Magistrate Pete Beavers and his bond was set at $150,000. He is currently being held at the Southern West Virginia Regional Jail.
