Welch man arrested for trying to sell pills downtown

WELCH — The McDowell County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man after he was making a scene while attempting to sell drugs in downtown Welch.

Kenny Lee Jones, 37, of Bradshaw, was arrested Tuesday after a complaint was made that he was yelling and approaching people in the downtown trying to sell them pills, according to a report from McDowell County Sheriff Martin West.

Jones was arrested by Deputy R.L. Blevins and Deputy R.R. Freeman of the sheriff’s department. Jones had approximately 18 klonopin pills in his possession, Blevins said.

Jones has been charged with possession with intent to sell a scheduled IV controlled substance.

Jones was arraigned in front of Magistrate Steve Cox who placed a bond of $10,000.

Jones bonded out on Wednesday.
