BLUEWELL — Firefighters with the Bluewell Volunteer Fire Department returned Sunday afternoon to the scene of a structure fire on Sauls Road off of Duck Pond Road, where a residence had been severely damaged by an early morning fire.
“We got the initial call (Sunday) morning a little after midnight,” Chief Mike Gibson of the Bluewell Volunteer Fire Department said. “Bramwell Volunteer Fire Department also responded. “When we arrived, the rear of the structure was totally involved, so we concentrated our efforts on saving the front.”
The rekindled fire call came in shortly after 5 p.m.
Gibson did not know the name of the resident, but Deputy J.D. Gills of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department said the resident was at the scene that evening, observing as the firefighters prevented the rekindled fire from spreading to a nearby garage that was unharmed in the earlier blaze at the structure.
Firefighters were still on the scene after 7 p.m. Sunday evening.
