Police arrest one for firing gun at plant

GLEN LYN, Va — A Princeton man has been arrested after he produced a 9mm handgun and fired a shot during an argument at GE Fairchild in Glen Lyn, Va., on Monday.

Randall Showalter, 59, has been charged with three firearm related charges, according to Glen Lyn Police Chief S. D. Buckland.

Showalter was an employee of GE Fairchild until January of 2014. According to Buckland, he returned to his former workplace at 6 a.m., to return company property. A verbal altercation broke out between Showalter and an another employee.  

No one was injured in the incident. Showalter is being held at the New River Valley Regional Jail on a $5,000 secured bond.

The Giles County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Glen Lyn Police Department.
