Bust worth $70K in cash, drugs nabs 4

PRINCETON — Four individuals have been arrested on drug-related charges as part of an ongoing investigation by the Princeton Police Department.

According to Chief J.W. Howell, Chad Barrett, 35, of Princeton; Steven Short, 28, of Bluefield; and Troy Coy, 43, of Princeton, were charged with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Ashley Hill, 33, of Bluefield; was charged with possession, Howell said.

“They were arrested on Friday, June 6, in and around the Airway Motel on Courthouse Road in Princeton,” Howell said.

Authorities discovered 319 hydromorphone pills, 766 oxycodone pills, 356 methadone pills and 67.9 grams of cocaine, totaling more than $44,000. Howell said $28,656 in cash was also uncovered during the investigation.  

Barrett and Coy were arraigned by Magistrate Charles Poe. They were released on a $25,000 bond. Short was arraigned by Magistrate James Dent and released on a $25,000 bond. Hill, also arraigned by Dent, was released on a $2,000 bond.

Lt. Pugh, Officer Morey, and Capt. Compton, of the Princeton Police Department, are in charge of the investigation.
