Tazewell, Va., authorities searching for wanted man

TAZEWELL,Va. — The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on the whereabouts of Benjamin Daugherty, 33, a white male last known to be in Doran, Va.

Daugherty is wanted on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The man is considered armed. He has been wanted since 2003 when he left the area, and officials have reason to believe he may be back in the area, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

Daugherty has been making threats online and there are possible additional charges pending, according to Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Major Harold Heatley.

“He may be going by an alias and we don’t know that name yet,"  Heatley said. "We have had a couple of Facebook leads but nothing solid. Hopefully something will  break and we will be able to find him.”

“We are asking anyone with information to please contact the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office at 276-988-0645/0704 or your local law enforcement agency, do not attempt to confront this suspect,” Heatley said.
