BLUEFIELD — The 26th season of the Chicory Square Concert Series kicked off Friday with the Bluefield Middle School band performing as a large crowd gathered under the sunshine.

“We appreciate everyone coming out to enjoy the music and are proud to be a part of the Cole Chevy Mountain Festival activities,” Perry said.

Perry also thanked the Greater Bluefield Chamber of Commerce for providing the wonderful door prizes.

Head of the Downtown Merchants Association Art Riley said it was a great day for the kick off of the 26th season.

“The band under Dr. Woodbury is great and the weather has really cooperated with us and we hope it continues throughout the summer. We have a wonderful schedule of concerts planned and are really looking forward to the concert series this summer,” Riley said.

The door prizes donated by the chamber included a lemonade t-shirt and other lemonade related items.

“I am really honored to be here, it is fun to go around to the different events and do the introductions for the festivals,” McGlothlin said.

“This was my first pageant so I didn’t really expect to win I was just in shock,” she said.
