55 named in grand jury list

Sexual battery, robbery among charges

TAZEWELL, Va. — Aggravated sexual battery, forcible sodomy, and robbery of the residence were among the indictments on the list handed down by the Tazewell County grand jury.

The list of 55 defendants released Tuesday showed several cases involving sexual assaults. Carl Christopher Hodges, 35, of Horsepen,Va., was indicted on three charges of aggravated sexual battery with the victim under 13 years old.

In another case, Eric Wayne Cox, 36, of Richlands,Va., was indicted on counts including conspiracy, aggravated sexual battery with a victim 13 years of age; and two charges of forcible sodomy by a person over 18 years of age with a victim less than 13 years of age.

The grand jury also indicted Crystal Leigh Counts, 25, of Richlands, Va., on charges of conspiracy and aggravated sexual battery. Commonwealth’s Attorney Dennis Lee and other officials with the Tazewell County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office were not available for comment Tuesday.

Charges on the grand jury’s list included charges ranging from possession with intent to sell controlled substances, grand larceny, burglary, and other offenses.

The grand jury indicted Andrew Oneal Honeycutt, 33, of Littcar, Ky., on charges including robbery of a residence; use of a firearm in the commission of a felony; possession of a firearm by a nonviolent convicted felon; possession of a schedule III drug; and possession of a schedule IV drug.

Traffic infractions were among the indictments. Bradley Steven Looney, 42, of Cedar Bluff, Va., was indicted on charges of eluding police endangerment; driving while intoxicated; 20 mph or more over speed limit; defective/missing exhaust system; and failure to drive on the right side of the highway.
