State police investigate alleged break-in at Hemphill home

HEMPHILL — Troopers with the Welch detachment of the West Virginia State Police are attempting to locate two suspects who were allegedly involved in an incident that occurred late Friday night at a Hemphill residence.

The victim, a 25-year-old white male, told police that two black male subjects pushed through a screen door to gain entry to his residence, accused him of stealing the liquor they had been drinking, broke the television set and front window of his residence then beat him up, according to Trooper C.A. Dunn, of the Welch detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

“His nose looked to be badly injured, he had a big knot on his head and there was blood inside the house and on the front door,” Dunn said. “When I arrived on scene, saw the blood on an open door and the broken window, I didn’t know what I would find inside.”

Dunn said that he started his investigation early this morning, but has not yet located the two suspects. The victim was able to provide one full name and the first name of the second alleged attackers.
