Police, emergency responders find missing 2-year-old

PRINCETON — After a nearly three-hour search, a child that was reported missing after 6 p.m., Thursday evening, was found by Officer Seth Gibson of the Princeton Police Department, according to Cpl. S.A. Sommers of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department. The child was found at a location on Old Athens Road in Princeton.

The Princeton Police Department launched a search Thursday evening for the missing 2-year-old male, who was last seen in the basement of his home on Robbins Street, off of North Wickham Avenue in Princeton.

Officers with the Princeton Police Department launched the initial search for the child, and were soon aided by members of the Princeton Fire Department, the West Virginia State Police and deputies of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department. “Several neighbors also joined in the search,” Sommers said.

Deputy D.A. Furches and his K-9 partner Maggie joined the search as well as firefighters with the East River Volunteer Fire Department. At about 7:45 p.m., coordinators expanded the search area beyond the immediate vicinity of the home.

Emergency responders reported finding the child at about 8:55 p.m.

“Both parents are at the Princeton Police Department, and are being questioned there,” Sommers said.
