Veterans Administration Mobile Clinic makes early visit to Bluefield

BLUEFIELD — Several key members of the Veterans Administration hospital in Beckley traveled to Bluefield Friday morning in the VA’s new mobile clinic. Brian Nimmo, associate director of the Beckley VA Hospital, said personnel visited the Herb Sims Youth Center to work with the city to determine the best place to station the clinic prior to the Feb. 13, ribbon-cutting event.

“We’re excited about bringing this mobile clinic here,” Nimmo said. “We want a waiting list. We want this to be as well used-as any other VA clinic.”

Nimmo and other Beckley VA administrative personnel met with Jim Ferguson, Bluefield city manager and Dwight Godwin, director of the city parks and recreation department to determine the most appropriate location for the mobile clinic as well as to check for electrical hook-ups.

Gary Eskins, acting chief of health administration at the Beckley VA, said letters are being sent today to all area veterans, encouraging them to visit the clinic.
