Oakvale School on track to be ready to open

OAKVALE — Work is on track to have classrooms ready for Oakvale students when Mercer County schools open on Aug. 27, Principal Ernie Adkins said today.

“We’re good to go,” Adkins said. “We’re in good shape to be open on the first day. We’re doing some cleaning and getting ready to be open.”

Part of the old school was demolished last June, and the remaining section is being renovated for classes. Every grade level at the pre-kindergarten to fifth grade school will have its own classroom, Adkins said. There are seven classrooms, and each one will have from 15 to 20 students.

Construction will continue on the new section of Oakvale Elementary School. The new school is projected to open in August 2013.
