Three transported to hospital after crash on Airport Road

BRUSHFORK — Three people were taken to Bluefield Regional Medical Center after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Airport Road.

The crash was reported at approximately 9:40 a.m. soon after the vehicles collided at the intersection of Airport Road and Stoney Ridge Road. A gray Ford van attempting to cross from Stoney Ridge Road to Perdue Hollow Road was struck on the rear driver’s side by a Chevrolet pickup truck, said Deputy J.S. Bish of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department.

The truck’s driver and the driver and passenger of the van were taken to BRMC. Bish said the driver of the truck was cited for driving with a suspended license, and the van’s driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

Units of the Bluewell Volunteer Fire Department and the Bluefield Rescue Squad were also dispatched to the scene. Airport Road was closed until the wreck was cleared.
