WYTHEVILLE, Va. —
Traffic is moving on Interstate 77 south as crews clear away debris left by an early morning tractor-trailer crash.
At 7:46 a.m. Friday, the Virginia State Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of I-77 near the 45 mile marker in Wythe County, Va., according to Corrine N. Geller, public relations director for the Virginia State Police.
A tractor-trailer loaded with building materials overturned, scattering its load across the southbound travel lanes. The driver from Ontario, Canada, was not injured in the crash, Geller said.
A detour was set up to divert traffic around the crash site until the debris could be cleared. Southbound traffic was diverted off I-77 at Exit 47. At 9:50 a.m., the left southbound lane was re-opened to through traffic. The detour ended at 10:57 a.m. The right southbound lane of I-77 should be re-opened by approximately 3:30 p.m., Geller said.
