State police are continuing their investigation into a fatal officer-involved shooting in Mercer County.
The incident occurred Saturday at a residence on Surface Hill Road. Police initially responded to a report of a domestic dispute involving a man with a chain saw. Police shot and fatally wounded the man after he approached a sheriff’s department deputy with a large club-type instrument and refused commands from the deputy to put the weapon down.
Mercer County Sheriff Don Meadows said Wednesday the officer involved in the shooting was Deputy M.S. Horne.
Meadows said he did not release Horne’s name immediately because he “wanted to give him a couple of days.”
