Breaking and enterings hit Lashmeet area

LASHMEET — Several breaking and enterings occurred this morning in the Lashmeet area.

According to Sheriff D.B. Meadows, at approximately 5:49 a.m. this morning three locations in Lashmeet including The Star Restaurant, Head Start and Lashmeet Freewill Baptist Church were all broken into with destruction of property at all locations.

Upon further investigation it was learned that The Star Restaurant had a firearm and an undisclosed amount of money stolen. Head Start had around $5000 of electronics stolen. The Lashmeet Freewill Baptist Church was also broken into, Meadows said.

At 10 a.m. Det. Cpl. L.B. Murphy, Det. D.W. Sparks and Deputy C.K. Lester arrested Bradley Gene Bradshaw of Lashmeet.

Bradshaw is charged with three charges of breaking and entering, felon in possession of a firearm, receiving and transferring stolen property and two counts of grand larceny. Other charges are pending.

The property was recovered and returned to the rightful owners, Meadows said.
