BLUEFIELD — One lucky couple was chosen to be married at the 90th anniversary of the one of the region’s biggest celebrations of the early 20th Century — the Marriage of the Bluefields.

On July 12, 2014, Stephanie Muncy, 22, of Nemours, and Cody Woodall, 23, of Bluefield, Va., will be married at the 90th vow renewal of the two Bluefields.

“We are just so excited to be married, it’s been a long time coming,” Muncy said.

The couple who met through mutual friends have been together since high school.

Woodall who works for AT&T is excited to be married and also work his way up in the company, he said.

Muncy keeps herself busy by volunteering with their church, in the schools and working toward her education degree at Bluefield State College.

The couple had to write an essay describing why they should be selected to be married at the event.

“We were just really shocked we got picked. We really just entered because it was a chance to be part of history. We had already set a date and planned pretty much everything but it has worked out well and we are excited,” Muncy said.
