Bluefield City Board approves sanitary board bonds

BLUEFIELD —  Final steps were taken today to approve two bond issues to finance improvements for facilities and infrastructure operated by the Bluefield Sanitary Board.

The sewer revenue bonds, one series for $1,358,924 and a second for $229,550, will finance improvements for the Ada Water Treatment Plant and water infrastructure, said City Manager Jim Ferguson. The bonds will not increase water rates.

City Board member Pete Sternloff was appointed mayor for the duration of today’s meeting so he could sign the necessary documents on behalf of the city. Mayor Linda Whalen is on vacation, Sternloff said.
