PRINCETON — A Mercer County man who worked with children as a child care provider was arrested on Thursday night on receiving and possessing child pornography, according to Cpl. Steven A. Sommers, a detective with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department.

Lindsey Bowling, 29, of Princeton, was taken into custody after Sommers, an investigator with the West Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, executed a search warrant in the Princeton area.

As a result of evidence collected during the execution of the search warrant, Bowling was arrested and charged with “150 counts of receiving and possessing material visually portraying a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct,” according to a press release issued Thursday night by Mercer County Sheriff D.B. “Don” Meadows. “Detective Corporal Sommers was assisted by other deputies, troopers of the West Virginia State Police and the Princeton Police Department detective bureau,” Meadows stated.

“Bowling is employed as a child care worker at Lil Camper Dependable Child Care in Princeton,” according to the press release from the sheriff’s department. “As of his arrest, there is no evidence to suggest that any children that he worked with were harmed in any way, but the investigation is ongoing and every investigative measure available is being used.”

Bowling was processed at the sheriff’s office in Princeton and was transported to the Bluefield Jail where he will await arraignment today in Mercer County magistrate court.
