Boy Scouts' Day of Service project list finalized

BLUEFIELD — Officials have announced the selection of nearly 80 service projects to be completed across the region as part of the Boy Scouts’ Day of Service in 2013.

The projects were chosen by officials with the Citizens Conservation Corps (CCC) of West Virginia and Reaching the Summit Community Service Initiative as part of the 2013 National Scout Jamboree’s service projects. A total of 39 projects were approved in Mercer County, 19 projects in McDowell County and 21 in Monroe County.

Selected projects in the area include trail building, renovations to local parks and schools, clean up at several historic cemeteries, and several community beautification projects.
