Police seek Princeton robbery suspects

BLUEFIELD — Troopers with the West Virginia State Police Princeton Detachment are searching for two men wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a Mercer County video lottery parlor.

The two men entered Joyce’s on Courthouse Road in Princeton around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night, and actually played the video lottery machines for a period of time before approaching a store clerk, according to Sgt. R.A. Maddy of the West Virginia State Police Princeton Detachment.

Maddy said the two men then brandished a knife and ordered the woman to open a safe. At that point they stole an undetermined amount of money, and bound the store clerk with duct tape. The woman wasn’t injured. Maddy said the two men tied the woman’s hands and legs with duct tape. They then fled the store with the money.

Maddy said there were no other customers or employees in the video lottery parlor at the time of the armed robbery. The robbery — and images of the two suspects — were captured on a store surveillance video.

Anyone with information concerning the crime is asked to call the state police detachment in Princeton at 304-425-2101.

Maddy said the armed robbery is being investigated by Trooper B.R. Wood.
