Bluefield officials evaluating locations for city dog park; no public hearing set

BLUEFIELD — City officials are still evaluating all available options for a dog park in Bluefield, according to assistant city manger Josh Cline.

A dog park has been proposed at the old Fairview School location between Rockbridge Street and Shenandoah Street.

“We are still doing studies on different locations to see what would work best for the city and evaluating all kinds of different options,” Cline said.

Not only will the dogs be able to play but obedience classes and other pet-owner classes would be offered through the parks and recreation department as part of the proposal, Cline said.

“There will be rules, of course, that people will have to follow such as dogs will have to be registered with the city and be up-to-date on their shots, among other things,” Cline said.

As of right now there are no scheduled public hearings set up for the dog park, Cline said.
