FALLS MILLS, Va. —
A local man was in jail without bond Tuesday after allegedly dragging a 16-year-old male behind a vehicle for at least 20 yards.
Floyd Alan Milam, no age available, of Falls Mills, Va. was arrested without incident at his home Monday evening after Tazewell County 911 received a call about a person being dragged behind a vehicle in the vicinity of Falls Mills Dam, according to Maj. Harold Heatley of the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities were alerted to the incident by a third-party call.
Milam allegedly dragged the 16-year-old individual behind a vehicle at approximately 10 p.m. Monday, Heatley said. The teenager, whose name was not released, was transported to Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
The teenager remained in stable condition Monday, Heatley said. An investigation was continuing Tuesday, and it was not yet known how Milam and the teen knew each other.
“There’s some relationship, but we’re not sure what that relationship is yet,” Heatley said. No other people were present during the incident, and Heatley did not know who had found the teenager.
Investigators estimate the teen had been dragged between 20 to 30 yards along a road near the dam. Heatley did not know if it was a paved road.
Milam has been charged with malicious wounding. He is being held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority in Tazewell, Va.
