Two transported to hospital after truck strikes parked cars on Thorn Street

PRINCETON — Two people were injured on Monday when a man driving a red Chevy Silverado pickup truck struck two parked cars on Thorn Street in Princeton.

According to Princeton Police Department Patrolman J.A. Angle, the driver was holding a cigarette in his hand while attempting to put on his seatbelt.

“When he looked up, he hit a black Chevy 1500. There were two occupants in the vehicle. It went forward and hit a blue Dodge Durango. It was unoccupied.” Angle said.

The vehicles were parked in front of a local business.

The two people in the black Chevy 1500 were transported to Princeton Community Hospital. Angle said the driver of the red Chevy Silverado has been charged with failure to maintain control and not wearing a seatbelt.

The accident is still under investigation, according to Angle.
