Woman escapes injury after her car burns in Tazewell County

SPRINGVILLE, Va. — A Tazewell County woman escaped injury this morning when her car overheated and suddenly burned on U.S. Route 460.

Deidi Rose, no age available, of Tazewell, Va., was traveling west on Route 460 when her 2000 Volkswagen started to overheat. She pulled over and flames came from under the hood.

“And two seconds later, it was gone,” she said as the burnt wreckage was hauled away. Rose was alone in the car.

Deputies with the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office and units of the Bluefield, Va. Fire Department were dispatched to the scene. The fire occurred approximately 10:10 a.m.
