Business owners and merchants in Bluefield are invited to meet with the city’s new Redevelopment and Planning Director as well as hear more about small business development Saturday.
Breakfast with the City Manager will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the city municipal building on Rogers Street. The meeting will begin with a continental breakfast as well as an open forum for discussion on how to improve the local business climate in Bluefield.
City Manager Jim Ferguson said the purpose of the meeting is to bring local business leaders together.
“We want this to be a monthly event for now,” Ferguson said. “This will be the second event we have held. We get to have some good discussion and reach out to our local businesses.”
The special guest for the event will be Steve Johnson, a business coach from the West Virginia Small Business Development Center, who will be there to speak to business owners about opportunities and development tools available to them through the state.
“He will have handouts and be there to answer questions,” Ferguson said. “He will also review the resources for small businesses, which many of our local business owners may not be aware of. These are resources that can help them grow or maintain their business. There are grants as well as workshops on grant writing and entrepreneurship or writing business plans. There will be something there for everyone whether you are just starting out or have been in business for a while.”
Attendees will also get to meet the city’s new Redevelopment and Planning Director Josh Cline.
The meeting will adjourn at 10:30 a.m. and all those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP by contacting city offices at 304-327-2401.
