A Mercer County man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison as part of the Bluefield Pill Initiative after admitting to shooting a police informant.
Shawn T. Anderson, 36, of Bluefield was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison by Senior U.S. District Judge David A. Faber on illegal firearms charges today. Anderson previously pleaded guilty to carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
Anderson admitted he met with an individual cooperating with police as part of the Bluefield Pill Initiative on Dec. 6, 2011. Anderson confronted the police information and displayed a gun in an attempt to scare the informant out of cooperating with police. Anderson then fired several rounds for the weapon, one of which struck the informant in the hand.
