PRINCETON — A 78-year-old Bluefield woman was transported from the scene of a two vehicle wreck on U.S. Route 460 at the intersection with Courthouse Road Wednesday morning.

According to Deputy W.E. Rose of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, the driver of a tractor-trailer said he did not see the silver 2000 Nissan Sentra in front of him when he pulled out after the westbound traffic light turned green. The conventional-style front-end truck pushed the Nissan through the intersection about 40 yards, pushing it about 25 yards until the Nissan hit a guardrail and turned 180 degrees.

The truck was hauling Jersey barriers. Another truck from the same company hauling the same kind of load was delivering the barriers to the 460 bridge repair project at U.S. Route 19, about 1 mile west of the Mercer Mall Road intersection.
