Bluefield City Manager Jim Ferguson announced Thursday afternoon that 23-year veteran police officer, Lt. D.M. “Dennis” Dillow, has agreed to serve as interim police chief while the city searches for a new chief to follow former Police Chief J.W. “Joe” Wilson, whose retirement was effective Thursday afternoon.
“My selection of Lt. Dillow to serve as the interim chief does not necessarily mean that he will be appointed chief, nor does it prohibit him from applying for the position of chief,” Ferguson said following a meeting he had with Wilson, Dillow and Lt. C.S. Myers.
