Northbound lanes of Interstate 77 near Bluefield will be closed again starting 7 a.m. Tuesday as contractor workers continue removing stones from a mile-marker 3 cliff.
Traffic will be rerouted onto U.S. Route 460 east where it will rejoin I-77 in Princeton.
“We hoped to finish today, but it looks like it’s going to extend into tomorrow at least,” said Tom Camden, supervisor for District 10 of the state Department of Highways.
Southbound lanes will remain open, Camden said.
The work is being performed to prevent rockslides. In March, I-77 northbound was closed for several days by a major rockslide near mile-marker 3.
